Hi everyone!

I hope 2025 has started off well for you all! 

The thing I quite like about the start of the year is that it feels so full of potential – really anything could happen by December! The possibilities are endless! I might be more excited if the world didn't seem so grim right now.

But that's out there. In here I've started this year trying to answer a not-so-insignificant question: What's next?

What’s next?

I’ve already declared my intent to give up the business analyst title. But because business analysis is so interwoven with everything I’ve been doing, it’s a tad more complicated than simply updating my LinkedIn byline (which I still haven't done 😬).

So my latest article—the first for 2025—is an attempt at an answer. And it turned into a statement of intent. A declaration of independence. A commitment to the future. A manifesto for what’s next both for myself and for Jimmy. It is me writing down what I’m doing, and also why I’m doing it.

Because things are a bit borked—but I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel ...

This is – I promise – the last self-indulgent article for a while. Forgive me for somewhat compulsively sharing my thinking process while I’ve worked this through. Turns out the writing really helps me think!

You’ll also be pleased to know that I’ve already started work on an article about risk and right-sizing the approach to match. And there’s an idea cooking about how to wrangle the big picture. 

Which is to say, you can expect a return to your regularly scheduled nerdy nonsense next month!

And next time, a new website!

This is also the very last article I'll publish on my existing website (thank gawd). My new website is getting the final polish and by this time next month, you'll get to see what I've been working on this whole time. Much excite! 

And not a little scared. But I'm telling you as a form of commitment ... I want this project done so I can move onto the next.
